Pampa River Project

Pampa River located in the state of Kerala, India. Pampa is the sacred river of the
hindu devotees and they offer regular rituals on the banks of the river.

Pilgrims who visit the Sabarimala Temple usually take a dip in the Pampa River
before climbing the hill to reach the temple. The annual Sabarimala pilgrimage
attracts millions of devotees from all over India and abroad.

Pampa River is also plays a major source of irrigation for the agricultural lands in
Pathanamthitta and Alleppey districts in Kerala. The river is also known for its scenic
beauty and attracts many tourists who visit the nearby hill stations and wildlife
sanctuaries. “Save River Pampa and Green Earth” are the sustainable nature
conservation project of Mar Chrysostom Foundation.

A collective effort and cooperation of the local people is needed to make the coastal
areas of the Pampa River garbage free and to plant fruit trees and medicinal plants
along the river banks. Along the banks of Pampa River, units of nature lovers are
being formed under the name of “Global Friends of Pampa”.

We are planning to organize chapters of the “Global friends of Pampa” in association
